Tamayo, Rufino - National Gallery of Canada

A Solitary Mexican Modernist
Experience the work of one of Mexico’s masters,

An independent artist who embraced modernity, Tamayo’s style veered from his early depictions of indigenous peoples to playful, colourful, abstract – and sometimes surrealist – later works. Throughout all of his artistic explorations, he remained focused on finding humanity’s place in the universe.
Featuring prints and paintings from the collections of the National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico, as well as an outstanding watercolour from the national collection, this exhibition (25.06.2016 - 10-10.2016 )marks the 25th anniversary of Tamayo’s death. Don’t miss a rare opportunity to see works by an artist of constant reinvention. (Text: National Gallery of Canada)
